Stomach pain is common and can happen to anyone, from children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. Usually, mild stomach pain is caused by consuming spicy food, eating late, consuming gassy foods, poor diet, constipation, diarrhea, and others.
Simple therapies can overcome problems for mild stomach pain, such as drinking warm water, warm compresses on the stomach, and others. However, be careful; stomach pain problems can signify serious health problems in our growth under certain conditions.
The following are symptoms of abdominal pain that we must be aware of and should be checked by a doctor as soon as we feel it.
Diarrhea
Diarrhea is a common condition and can be treated with diarrhea medication. However, be careful if the watery stools we pass are mixed with blood, there is a burning sensation in the stomach, and we must be vigilant against fever.
This case could be a symptom of Salmonella, Campylobacter, Shigella, or E Coli bacterial infection. This condition can be strengthened after taking diarrhea medicine and resolving the problem, but the stomach still hurts, or the body temperature has not decreased.
Severe Stomach Pain with Vomiting
In addition to stomach pain, we experience continuous vomiting. Abdominal pain that is felt is not like stomach pain in general; it feels more intense and strong, we even feel like our stomach is being stabbed, and our intestines are being twisted.
Symptoms of abdominal pain usually occur due to infection with shigella, salmonella, campylobacter, or E.coli bacteria. In addition, this condition can also be caused by acute gastroenteritis, known as stomach flu. Unlike a bacterial infection, the stomach flu does not cause diarrhea with blood.
Back Pain
We have severe abdominal pain that starts in the upper abdomen and then spreads to the lower abdomen. This condition has occurred for a long time. Instead of subsiding, the stomach pain spread to the back.
This condition can be a sign of a severe problem in our stomach, such as symptoms of acute pancreatitis. If the abdominal pain is accompanied by other symptoms, such as fever, faster heart rate, swollen abdomen, nausea, and vomiting, this may be a symptom of cholecystitis.
Stomach Pain in Lower Right
If we feel excruciating abdominal pain, starting from the navel, then spreading to the lower right abdomen, suddenly and getting worse when left alone, this could be a symptom of appendicitis or inflammation of the appendix.
Symptoms of abdominal pain due to appendicitis are usually accompanied by additional symptoms, such as pain that gets worse when moving or things that put pressure on the stomach, such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, taking deep breaths, and so on.
Lower Stomach Cramp
Unlike the previous symptoms of abdominal pain that are difficult to go away from, this abdominal pain due to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) will disappear during bowel movements. The abdominal pain suffered was slightly different, which was accompanied by lower abdominal cramps.
Symptoms of IBS are usually accompanied by flatulence, changes in bowel patterns, and excessive gas. If these additional symptoms do not accompany it, chances we are just experiencing constipation.
For the record, a stomach ache that is nothing to worry about will disappear within a few hours, even without particular medication. However, if the symptoms of abdominal pain are even worse, even occur all day, we should immediately contact a doctor.
